Cinnamomum verum is called true cinnamon tree or Ceylon cinnamon tree, is a small evergreen tree belonging to the family Lauraceae, native to Sri Lanka and also found in parts of the Caribbean. Cinnamon can ease inflammation, lower blood pressure, and remove excess cholesterol from blood vessels. Specifically, cinnamaldehyde (fights viruses and infections) and cinnamophilin, two components in the spice, have been shown to lower blood pressure, expand vascular tissue, and reduce triglycerides and LDL (“bad cholesterol). Cinnamon leaf tea can also reduce menstrual symptoms such as bleeding, pain, and nausea. Cinnamon contains a natural antiseptic called eugenol. Eugenol fights bacteria such as E. coli, fungi that includes Candida albicans (vaginal yeast infection), and cold and flu viruses. Other benefits of Cinnamon leaf tea are: boost immune system, lowers blood sugar levels, heart disease, gastrointestinal issues, diabetes type 2, and weight loss.
